Short version: CalcoTools does not currently set cookies.
CalcoTools doesn't set any cookies today — no session cookies, no tracking cookies, no third-party advertising cookies, no analytics cookies.
Why there's a cookie-preference banner anyway
You may still see a cookie-preference banner on your first visit. That's deliberate, built ahead of any actual need: if CalcoTools ever adds something that requires consent (most likely advertising, alongside the reserved-but-currently-empty ad space already in the site's layout), the mechanism to ask for and honor your choice is already in place and defaults to declined, rather than being bolted on afterward. Your choice is stored locally in your browser with a timestamp, and you can change it any time from the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.
Google's Consent Mode v2 signals (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage) are set to denied by default and only move to granted if you actively accept — this is standing infrastructure for a future ad integration, not something currently in effect, since no such integration exists yet.
What CalcoTools uses instead of cookies
A small amount of state persists in your browser's local storage so features like "recently used tools," your region preference, and your cookie choice work:
- All of it stays on your device. None of it is a browser cookie, and none of it is visible to us or to other visitors — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what's stored and why.
Third-party services
Two tools call external services directly from your browser — the Currency Converter (live exchange rates) and the Image to Text / OCR tool (downloads its recognition engine, not your images, from a CDN). Those third-party services may have their own cookie practices, which this policy does not cover — check their respective privacy policies if you have concerns.
As with the other policy documents, have this reviewed by a lawyer before publishing, and revisit it immediately if you add any cookie-based feature (login sessions, ad networks, analytics platforms, etc.) in the future.
