About the GPA Calculator

Calculates a weighted grade point average from a list of courses, letter grades, and credit hours, using the standard 4.0-scale grade points most US colleges use.

How to use it
  1. Enter each course's Grade and Credits, or use Add course for a new row.
  2. Read your weighted GPA and total credits in the readout.
Formula
GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits)
Worked example

One 4-credit A (4.0) and one 3-credit B+ (3.3): (4×4.0 + 3×3.3) ÷ (4+3) = 25.9 ÷ 7 ≈ 3.7 GPA.

Recommendations
  • Add every course for the term to get an accurate weighted average — leaving out a low grade will inflate the result.
  • If your school uses plus/minus grading, double check this tool's grade-point mapping matches your registrar's scale.
  • Recompute after each term to track your cumulative GPA trend, not just one semester's number.
Frequently asked questions
It uses the common 4.0 scale (A = 4.0 down to F = 0.0). Some schools use plus/minus increments or weighted scales for honors/AP courses that differ slightly — check your registrar's scale for an official figure.
