About the Salary Calculator
Estimates take-home pay from a gross annual salary by applying an estimated tax rate and other deductions, giving a rough sense of actual monthly and annual net income.
How to use it
- Enter your Gross annual salary.
- Enter your Estimated tax rate (%) and Other deductions (%).
- Read your net annual and monthly take-home pay in the result panel.
Formula
Net = Gross ร (1 โ (Tax rate % + Other deductions %) รท 100)
Worked example
A $1,200,000 gross salary with an 18% estimated tax rate and 5% other deductions nets roughly $924,000 a year, or about $77,000 a month.
Recommendations
- โข Use your effective tax rate from a prior pay stub or return for a more accurate estimate than a rough guess.
- โข Remember employer-side benefits, like retirement matching or insurance subsidies, aren't reflected in take-home pay but are still part of total compensation.
- โข Recalculate whenever your tax bracket or deduction elections change, like after a raise or a new benefits period.
Frequently asked questions
Real payroll deductions depend on your specific tax bracket, local tax rules, retirement contributions, insurance premiums, and other benefits. This tool uses flat estimated percentages you supply, not an actual tax table.
