About the Scientific Calculator

Evaluates full mathematical expressions with proper order of operations, trig functions, logarithms, exponents, and constants — built for typing a whole expression rather than button-by-button entry.

How to use it
  1. Type a full expression into the Expression field, or build one with the quick-insert buttons.
  2. Read the evaluated result in the readout below.
Formula
Standard operator precedence applies: parentheses, then exponents, then multiplication/division, then addition/subtraction. Functions like sin(), cos(), log(), and sqrt() take arguments in parentheses.
Worked example

sqrt(2)^3 + log(100, 10) evaluates to about 2.828 + 2 = 4.828.

Recommendations
  • Use pi and e directly in expressions — they're recognized as constants, not variables.
  • log(x) with one argument is base-10; use log(x, base) for a different base.
  • For quick one-off arithmetic without functions, the Basic Calculator's button interface is often faster.
Frequently asked questions
Yes — unlike the Basic Calculator's left-to-right button entry, this evaluates full expressions using standard mathematical precedence.
