About the Split Bill by Items
Splits a shared bill by exactly what each person ordered rather than dividing everything evenly, then spreads tax and tip proportionally across each person's share.
How to use it
- Add each Person to the bill.
- Add each item with its price, then tap each person's name under an item to mark who's sharing it.
- Enter the Tax + tip (%).
- Read each person's total in the result panel and chart.
Formula
Each person's share = Σ(price of items they're assigned ÷ number of people sharing that item), then scaled by (1 + tax/tip %)
Worked example
On a $60 bill where one person orders a $25 item alone and two people split a $35 shared item, the first person pays $25 + $17.50 = $42.50 before tax/tip, and the other pays $17.50 before tax/tip.
Recommendations
- • Add all items first, then assign people — it's easier to review the full bill before splitting it.
- • For a round of drinks everyone shares equally, just mark all diners under that one item.
- • Double-check the tax/tip percentage matches what's actually printed on the receipt before finalizing.
Frequently asked questions
Tap each person's name under an item to mark them as sharing it — that item's cost splits evenly among everyone tapped for it.
