How to use it
  1. Select your situation.
  2. Enter the date of divorce or the husband's death.
  3. Read the computed Iddah end date.
Formula
Non-menstruating divorced woman: start date + 3 lunar (Hijri) months (Quran 65:4). Widow, not pregnant: start date + 4 lunar months + 10 days (Quran 2:234).
Worked example

A divorce (non-menstruating case) on September 6, 2026 ends Iddah around December 4, 2026 — 3 lunar months later on the tabular Hijri calendar.

Divorced, non-menstruating (e.g. pre-puberty or post-menopause)3 lunar months (Quran 65:4)Yes — fixed calendar length
Divorced, menstruating3 menstrual cycles / quru' (Quran 2:228)No — depends on her own cycle, not a fixed day count
Widow, not pregnant4 lunar months + 10 days (Quran 2:234)Yes — fixed calendar length
Pregnant (divorced or widowed)Until delivery of the child (Quran 65:4)No — length unknown in advance
Interpreting your result

Two real cases — a menstruating divorced woman (3 menstrual cycles) and a pregnant woman (until delivery) — have no fixed calendar length by explicit Quranic wording (65:4, 2:228), so this tool deliberately shows no computed date for them rather than fabricate one.

Recommendations
  • The computed dates use the tabular Hijri calendar (same basis as this site's Hijri Date Converter) and may differ by a day from a locally-announced Islamic date.
Frequently asked questions
Because her Iddah is defined as 3 menstrual cycles (quru'), a duration that depends on her own cycle length, not a fixed number of calendar days — showing a specific date would be a guess, not a calculation.
