How to use it
- Enter a date.
- Read the current fast day, or the countdown to the next Fast.
Formula
The Fast occupies the entirety of ʻAláʼ, the 19th and final Badí-calendar month, immediately preceding Naw-Rúz.
Worked example
In Badí year 183 (2026): the Fast runs through ʻAláʼ, ending the day before Naw-Rúz 2026.
Interpreting your result
The Fast involves abstaining from food and drink between sunrise and sunset, for adult Baháʼís in good health (with recognized exemptions — illness, pregnancy, travel, and others). It ends at Naw-Rúz, which follows immediately after.
Recommendations
- • The Fast is a period of spiritual reflection and readjustment as much as physical abstention, per Baháʼí teaching.
Frequently asked questions
Recognized exemptions include illness, pregnancy or nursing, travel (under certain conditions), heavy physical labor, and age (under 15 or over 70).
