How to use it

Formula

Determined from the date's position relative to Advent, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Easter, and Pentecost — each computed from the year's own Easter date and the fixed Advent-Sunday rule (the Sunday closest to November 30).

Worked example

December 25 is Christmas season (White/Gold); the Sunday before Easter is Palm Sunday (Red); most of the year outside Advent/Christmas/Lent/Easter is Ordinary Time (Green).

Interpreting your result

This is a season-level lookup, not a full liturgical ordo — specific saints' days and feasts each carry their own color and aren't individually covered (a complete liturgical calendar covering every feast day is a much larger reference than this tool attempts). Orthodox, Reformed, and some other traditions follow different liturgical calendars entirely, not covered here.

Recommendations

• Palm Sunday and Pentecost carry their own color (Red) even though they fall within seasons (Lent and Easter, respectively) that are otherwise a different color.
