About the Namkaran Muhurat Calculator
Finds a candidate shortlist of auspicious baby-naming-ceremony (Namkaran) dates, filtered by Tithi, Nakshatra, and weekday — never a single computed "best" date.
- Enter a start date to search from — typically your baby's birth date, since the ceremony is classically tied to the 11th or 12th day after birth.
- Read the shortlist of candidate dates found in the next 240 days.
- Check each candidate's Tithi and Nakshatra.
- Take your shortlist to a priest or family elder for final confirmation.
Classical tradition most simply favors the baby's literal 11th or 12th day after birth; this tool's shortlist is most useful when that specific day doesn't fall on a favorable Tithi/Nakshatra/weekday combination and a nearby alternative is needed.
A real, disclosed simplification: checks Tithi, Nakshatra, and weekday only. Doesn't check Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika Kaal, or Bhadra (all real time-of-day factors a professional consultation would additionally weigh — see this site's dedicated calculators for each) or the baby's own birth-time-derived first-name-syllable rule (Namakshara), a separate classical tradition this tool doesn't compute.
- • If your baby's 11th or 12th day already falls on a favorable date, there's no need to search further — this tool is most useful for finding a nearby alternative when it doesn't.
