Kali Yuga is traditionally said to have begun at midnight, 18 February 3102 BCE. The year count changes at Chaitra Shukla Pratipada (the same lunisolar new year Vikram Samvat uses, found via a real Tithi search), not on 1 January — so the Kali Yuga year is the Gregorian year plus 3101 before that date, or plus 3102 after it, in a given year.
