About the Tithing Calculator

- Adjust the tithe percentage if needed (default 10%).
- Read the tithe amount.
On $4,000 income at 10%: a $400 tithe.
Two genuine, unresolved debates affect what to enter here, neither settled by this calculator: whether the tithe should be calculated on gross income (before taxes/deductions) or net income (take-home pay) — churches and individuals teach differently; and "storehouse tithing" — whether the full tithe should go to one's local congregation specifically, versus being distributed among multiple charitable causes. Some Protestant traditions also teach that tithing specifically is an Old Testament law not binding under the New Covenant, while still encouraging generous giving.
- • If your church or tradition has a specific teaching on gross vs. net income, use that figure — this calculator doesn't assume one for you.
