How to use it

Formula
Checks whether all 7 classical planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn) fall within the 180° sidereal arc measured forward from Rahu to Ketu, OR all within the 180° arc measured forward from Ketu to Rahu — either constitutes the dosha, since it means every planet is "hemmed in" on one side of the lunar-node axis rather than straddling both sides.
Worked example

If all 7 planets fall between 15° Mesha (Rahu) and 15° Tula (Ketu, exactly 180° away), Kaal Sarp Dosha is present, Rahu-leading.

Rahu and Ketu are computed using the Mean Lunar Node (a standard, real astronomical method — a smoothed value with no short-term ~18.6-year oscillation) rather than the more complex True Node some software uses. This is a real, disclosed method choice, not an error. This tool checks the geometric condition only — it does not distinguish the many classical named sub-types (Anant, Kulik, Vasuki, Shankhapal, and others), which depend on which house Rahu specifically occupies.
