Houses 2 and 8 are a real, additional variant some traditions include in the afflicted-house list — deliberately not added here, since including them changes the result and there's no single agreed-upon standard. Many practicing astrologers also apply cancellation rules (Mangal Dosha Bhang, e.g. based on Mars's own sign or aspects) this simple placement check doesn't compute.
