How to use it
  1. Enter your birth location, date, and time.
  2. Read your Navamsa Ascendant at the top.
  3. Compare each Graha's D1 (main chart) sign against its D9 (Navamsa) sign below.
  4. Look for "Vargottama" — when a planet lands in the same sign in both charts, traditionally considered a source of added strength.
Formula
Each 30° Rashi (zodiac sign) splits into 9 equal 3°20' divisions (Navamsas). Which sign a given division maps to follows a classical rule based on the Rashi's nature: movable signs (Aries/Cancer/Libra/Capricorn) count divisions starting from themselves; fixed signs (Taurus/Leo/Scorpio/Aquarius) start counting from the 9th sign from themselves; dual signs (Gemini/Virgo/Sagittarius/Pisces) start from the 5th sign from themselves.
Worked example

A planet at 28° Cancer (a movable sign) falls in its 9th and final Navamsa division, landing in Pisces — since Cancer's Navamsa count starts from Cancer itself, and the 9th sign counted forward from Cancer is Pisces.

Interpreting your result

Verified against 2 independently-published worked examples before shipping: 28° Cancer (a movable sign) correctly resolved to Pisces; Taurus 17° (a fixed sign) correctly resolved to Navamsa #6 starting from Capricorn, matching each source's own stated intermediate result exactly. This shows D9 sign positions only, not a full interpretive reading, house placements, or divisional-chart-specific strength analysis (Vimshopaka Bala) — consult a qualified astrologer for that.

Recommendations
  • See this site's Kundali Birth Chart Calculator first for your D1 (main chart) positions — this tool shows the same 9 Grahas' D9 positions alongside them for direct comparison.
